Solène Dufour, Bac pro Accueil, Section Euro promo 2017
“Hi there! My name is Solene Dufour and I am currently in Malta for 2 months.
When I was in Sainte-Therese High School I was part of the English European Section. Due to this I went to Edinburgh for an internship when I was 17 years old. I was in the Double Tree by Hilton. I really enjoyed my Scottish experience.
This year I am student in a two years’ Technical Degree. At the end of my first year I was supposed to be trainee in a company. I had two options: having an internship in a French company which has an international department or going abroad.
I did not hesitate and I immediately began seeking for a work-placement. I searched on Internet (websites…). I finally posted an add on a Facebook group which is called “Français à Malte”. A recruiter asked me to send her my resume. After that I had a Skype interview to evaluate my English level. I was hired in the next week.
And now … I am here : “BD ELECTRONICS”
I am a trainee in the firm BD Electronics. It is the subsidiary of ML Components. The head office is based in Germany. The company is an international distributor of micro-components. We work in the entire world but especially in India and Europe. At the office, all the employees come from several countries, so we must use English to communicate. I am a Human Resources Assistant. My job is to recruit new interns. I must evaluate CV’s, interview applicants …
In terms of accommodation and food, it is totally different from when I was in Scotland. In Edinburgh, I was housed in a host family. Whereas here in Malta I stay in a guest house. So I have to buy and prepare my own food.
Concerning my spare time, I enjoy visiting the Island. I saw many beautiful landscapes like Saint-Peters Pool or Popeye Village ….
I have already spent one month here and another one is waiting for me! I think I found my little Heaven.”
